Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has stuck more with Emerson Palmieri as his first choice left-back this term over Marcos Alonso.
However, Alonso seems to have been the better of the two this season. The Spaniard impressed as Chelsea defeated Tottenham 2-0 last weekend and missed the Boxing Day defeat to Southampton on Thursday due to injury.
Alonso is now fit ahead of Sunday’s visit to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal, and the Spaniard has a good record against the Gunners.
Alonso has a good record against Arsenal as he has scored three goals in his last five appearances for Chelsea against the Gunners, including the winner in a 3-2 victory at Stamford Bridge last season.
Alonso turned 29 on Saturday, and Chelsea twitter handle took time to hail the birthday boy and put a timely reminder of his good Arsenal record ahead of Sunday’s clash.
Chelsea fans have urged the Blues boss to feature the Spaniard ahead of Emerson on Sunday.
