Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has admitted that his side’s defeat to Chelsea on Sunday was hurtful.

Arsenal started the game the better of the two sides and it wasn’t a surprise when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted the opener just after 13 minutes.

Arsenal kept probing Chelsea and could have extended the lead beyond that. They had more possession, pressed harder, had better intensity, won the second balls, had good movements and made life difficult for Chelsea.

Shortly after the half hour mark, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard had seen enough and decided to introduce Jorginho for Emerson Palmieri, and that substitution changed the game around.

Two late goals from Jorginho and Tammy Abraham secured a massive Chelsea comeback at the Emirates, and Ozil has admitted that the defeat hurts and his side didn’t deserve to lose the game.

“Today’s result hurts after our best performance for a while,” he posted on Instagram.

“We didn’t deserve to lose. But thanks for your amazing support at home this afternoon. We go again on Wednesday – together.”

Chelsea’s next game is a home clash against Brighton on January 1, and Frank Lampard will be hoping for an improvement in his side’s home form.
