West Ham beat Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, their first victory at Stamford Bridge in 17 years.
The Hammers had gone seven games without a win ahead of the London derby but were able to earn a shocking win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Former Chelsea midfielder Declan Rice, now at West Ham, has hailed West Ham’s victory over Chelsea as one of the best in his life.
Rice was released by Chelsea as a youngster but has since gone on to become one of West Ham’s star players.
“Look all I want to say is I’m sorry to the West Ham fans that we give heart attacks to nearly every week,” said Rice, according to Daily Star.
“But today that’s probably one of the best days of my life.”
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini also praised the former Chelsea midfielder for his performance against Chelsea.
“I think that Declan and all the players have a good performance together,” Pellegrini said.
“It doesn’t matter if you have a good performance and the rest of the team aren’t with you or working the same way. You are not going to be the better team, then.
“I think Declan demonstrated once again what a good player he is.”
