Former England star Gary Lineker revealed on Friday afternoon that he’s happy with the quality of young talents available in the England squad.
Lineker mentioned a number of English youngsters who have been impressing in the Premier League this season and four Chelsea youngsters were mentioned as well.
In his New Year message, Lineker hailed Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James as well as talents from other clubs.
Lineker tweeted: “Never felt more bullish about England’s future: Trent, Wan-Bissaka, Foden, Mount, Greenwood, Rashford, Rice, Maddison, James, Gomez, Barnes, Sancho, Longstaff, Abraham, Hudson-Odoi, Nelson, Chilwell, Sessegnon…and more. Won’t all crack it, but what an array of talent. HNY.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has called for patience with his young team and has warned of how Chelsea had lost potential stars in the past.
The Chelsea boss said: “If we’re not patient and we don’t stick with the players then you might be in a situation where we have been before, where top world-class players have been at Chelsea when they were 20 or 21, but the managers maybe didn’t stick with them so much then. I’m in a position where I’m going to stick with them.”
