There was a hilarious incident over the weekend for Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko as he tried to sub himself off during AS Monaco’s 3-0 win over Amiens on Saturday.
Bakayoko wore the number 14 jersey at Chelsea and AC Milan and also wore number 14 while at Monaco before his switch to Chelsea.
Bakayoko has worn jersey number 14 for many years and had forgotten his new jersey number during the weekend. He currently wears the number 6 shirt for Monaco.
Bakayoko couldn’t get a place in the Chelsea team team under Frank Lampard and had to move back on loan to Monaco, but this time his regular 14 jersey wasn’t vacant as Keita Balde Diao occupies the No. 14 currently.
So when manager Leonardo Jardim was trying to sub No. 14 Keita off, Bakayoko walked over to the touchline, thinking his number had come up, only to be reminded that he was, in fact, wearing the No. 6.
Bakayoko then turned around laughing, with manager Jardim also seeing the funny side – as his side were 3-0 up.
After the match, the club posted the video on their Twitter page, with Bakayoko jokingly commenting below, ‘Give me back my 14 please’.
Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas also saw the funny side as he commented:
“Only Baka could do something like that. ‘I couldn’t stop laughing. Love you bro 🤣👏🏻🙏🏻🤗”
