Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham scored against Aston Villa as he returned from injury to help the Blues secure a 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
Abraham was badly missed in Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to West Ham on Saturday.
Chelsea legend Joe Cole has explained why the 22 year old striker is an important player for Chelsea.
Speaking on Amazon Prime, Cole said: “It didn’t surprise me because I know the lad, I know how he trains, and I know what he’s capable of.
“What he does Tammy, he gives you such a hunger on the pitch to score goals. This kid, when he scores goals in training, when he taps one in from three yards, he celebrates.
“I think that’s why he’s galvanised the club, he’s galvanised the fans, and it just shows you how important it is that he’s back in tonight, and the fans will be breathing a sigh of relief because they think now ‘that’s us, that’s our identity.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard hailed Tammy Abraham’s performance and his all round game after showing his importance to the team following his fine performance in the 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
“Tammy at the moment is a striker that is near the top of the goalscoring charts in the league,” Lampard said, “and is showing his all-round game which stretches defences and starts our press.
“He is a personality that is growing in our dressing room every day with his enthusiasm and his will to win and of course if a player is on such a good run and they come out of the team then it is normal you can miss them, and today he came back in as he left off.”
