Frank Lampard has admitted that he might consider using winger Christian Pulisic as a striker in upcoming games for Chelsea.
The 21-year-old has been in good form recently and had scored six goals in his last eight games, showing how influential he can be to the team’s attack.
Lampard decided to play Pulisic as a striker in the second half against West Ham when he took off Olivier Giroud for Callum Hudson-Odoi, but the move didn’t work as Pulisic was stifled out by the Hammers defence.
However, Lampard has admitted that Pulisic could be an option upfront.
“We’ll see,” Lampard said at Stamford Bridge. “He’s got an ability to run behind the line and to be sharp in central areas, which will naturally get him more goals but I’m not going to say right now that’s the solution. We’ll see going forward.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea fans will attest to the fact that the Blues haven’t been lucky playing with a false nine under previous managers. Maurizio Sarri consistently tried to play former star Eden Hazard in that role, but it never worked out, and Antonio Conte as well tried using Hazard in that role.
Should Pulisic be utilised as a false nine?
