John Terry – one of the most adored players to ever wear the Chelsea jersey. Mr. Chelsea himself returned to the Bridge for the first time since his playing career was over, and this time around the former Chelsea skipper was at the away dugout.
Terry who’s currently the assistant manager of Aston Villa was given a befitting welcome and the Blues legend took time out to greet the fans at the end of the game.
Terry and his former teammate and current Chelsea boss Frank Lampard exchanged words at the end of the game, and Lampard has revealed the extent of their communication.
According to Lampard, Terry tried to be professional and kept it simple and also tried to control his emotions.
Asked what Terry said to him after the game, Lampard revealed: “Nothing much special, just you know, it was a ‘well done’ and he had his moment on the pitch.
“It’s difficult when you come back – I did it last year – to a club that you feel so much for. And vice versa, as they [the fans] are with John. And you’re working, and you’re part of another team and part of another club.
“He’s respectful of Aston Villa, I know that. So it wasn’t a massive celebration time, but of course the respect both ways is huge.”
