Manchester City have joined Chelsea in race to sign Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake, according to Sky Sports.

Manchester City are looking for another centre-back to replace the injured Aymeric Laporte, with midfielder Fernandinho currently filling the vacancy, and Ake fits the bill.

Tottenham and Everton are also interested in the 24 year old Netherlands international.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard won’t be worried about Manchester City’s interest in Ake because the Blues inserted a £40m buy-back clause into the centre-back’s £20m deal to Bournemouth in 2017.

Ake came through the Chelsea academy before leaving for Bournemouth and Chelsea scout Piet de Visser has advised the club to re-sign Ake. He told Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant: “I hope they buy him back. That boy is perfect for them and he has played with (manager Frank) Lampard.”
