The Blues followed up our brilliant 2-0 victory over Tottenham with a shocking 2-0 loss to Southampton on Boxing Day.
According to stats on The Sun, Chelsea ran a whopping 2.2 miles less against Southampton than we did against Tottenham. Against Tottenham on Sunday, Chelsea clocked 69.2 miles throughout the 90 minutes but that figure dropped to just 67 miles against Southampton.
Chelsea’s drop in workrate was the largest in the Premier League between sides who played on December 21 or 22 and 26.
Southampton outran Chelsea with more than 3 miles. Chelsea clocked just 67 miles compared to Southampton’s 70.2 miles. It showed Chelsea players didn’t work hard enough compared to our opponents Southampton.
With the Blues set to face Arsenal at the Emirates this weekend, an improved workrate is needed to ensure we beat the Gunners.
