Tammy Abraham yet again showed how valuable he is to this Chelsea team as his return helped the Blues seal a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Chelsea had lost the previous game to West Ham and the team’s attack was poor as Tammy Abraham missed the game through injury.
The 22-year-old striker has now bagged 11 Premier League goals so far this season in just 14 appearances, a feat that only two previous Chelsea strikers have achieved in the Premier League.
According to stats from OptaJoe, Tammy Abraham has scored 11 goals in 14 Premier League apps this season – the only Chelsea players to score more in their first 14 apps in a PL season are Diego Costa (12 in 2014-15) and Nicolas Anelka (12 in 2008-09).
Meanwhile, former Chelsea star Cole has explained that Abraham is very important to this Chelsea team.
Speaking on Amazon Prime, Cole said: “It didn’t surprise me because I know the lad, I know how he trains, and I know what he’s capable of.
“What he does Tammy, he gives you such a hunger on the pitch to score goals. This kid, when he scores goals in training, when he taps one in from three yards, he celebrates.
“I think that’s why he’s galvanised the club, he’s galvanised the fans, and it just shows you how important it is that he’s back in tonight, and the fans will be breathing a sigh of relief because they think now ‘that’s us, that’s our identity.”
