John Terry showed why he was one of the hardest defenders in the Premier League as he left Mateo Kovacic in pain following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Terry shook hands with the impressive Mateo Kovacic after the game at Stamford Bridge and Kovacic was left in so much pain after the handshake.
Kovacic visibly let out a yelp and quickly hurried off, shaking and grabbing his hand to try and numb the obvious pain.
Terry has now reacted to the incident after Chelsea uploaded the clip on Instagram and tagged the former Chelsea skipper, writing: “Easy on the handshake, John!”
Terry has replied with both a laughing face emoji and flexing arm emoji, as well as tagging Kovacic and writing, “Sorry mate”.
While watching the incident, pundit Jermaine Jenas asked: “Did he mean it?”
But Danny Murphy replied: “No, I don’t think so,” as they laughed at replays of the incident.
