Chelsea boss Frank Lampard rotated his squad for the Boxing Day clash against Southampton, bearing in mind that the Blues have a huge game against Arsenal over the weekend.
Lampard handed rests to Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic for the game against the Saints, and Mateo Kovacic also missed that game.
Mateo Kovacic will most certainly make a return to the team having served a one-game suspension following his accumulation of five yellow cards.
Frank Lampard will most likely revert to a 4-3-3 system yet again after the 3-4-3 flopped against Southampton on Boxing Day as the Blues were beaten 2-0.
Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has highlighted Chelsea’s lack of confidence and creativity as the reason for Chelsea’s struggles against small teams.
“I think that you can see that they’ve got the players [to turn it around], they’ve got the players capable of doing it,” Wright said on Match of the Day.
“I think that confidence is a massive problem with, and creativity.
“It’s something where we know that they’re good enough to get results there.
“They need to get their confidence going, they need to find it.”
