Chelsea beat Lille 2-1 at Stamford Bridge to go through to the knockout stage of the Champions League in what was a must win game for the Blues.
Chelsea started the game in dominant form and kept pushing the visitors, and by half-time the Blues were 2-0 up.
Chelsea started the second-half in good form too, but the tempo dropped afterwards and Lille took advantage of it to score a 78th minute goal by former Blue Loic Remy which gave a tense end to the game.
Meanwhile, Lille boss Christophe Galtier had admitted that his team suffered in the first half, but his side was able to take advantage of Chelsea’s drop in intensity in the second half to scare the Blues.
He said: “It was a complicated game, they were playing to go through. The first 25 minutes it was complicated, we suffered a lot. In the last 20 Chelsea diminished the intensity. We could have got more out of this game, but this is it.”
