Much has been said about Chelsea’s poor defence, and the need for Frank Lampard to sign a top centre-back, another striker and also a winger.
Chelsea indeed need a top centre-back as the likes of Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori have all failed to take their chances.
In the wings, only Willian and Christian Pulisic seem to be proving themselves and will both need help, as Pedro doesn’t seem to be anywhere near his old self and Callum Hudson-Odoi has failed to reach his last season’s heights since returning from injury. Chelsea also need a striking competition for Tammy Abraham, with Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi failing to justify their place when given opportunities.
However, one key area Chelsea must strengthen is the goalkeeping department. Record signing goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been mistake prone this season, and the Blues number one surely needs competition to make him up his game, and at 38, Willy Caballero is far from being a quality competitor.
As previously reported, sources close to Chelsea’s managerial staff have disclosed that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen for recruitment staff to start work on finding potential new goalkeepers for the 2020/21 season.
