Reports by Sky Sports have revealed that Chelsea are interested in signing Lille striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigeria international is also being monitored by Premier League sides Tottenham and Liverpool.

Would Osimhen be a hit at Chelsea? Would he be better than Michy Batshuayi?

Michy Batshauyi is currently Chelsea’s second choice striker, while Olivier Giroud could be set to leave the club in January after a lack of playing opportunity.

Tammy Abraham has indeed been excellent this season with 13 goals already this term, but the young striker seems to be bearing too much burden on himself and looks like he needs help at times – the kind of help Batshuayi doesn’t seem to be providing for now.

Batshuayi started the campaign in good form as an impact sub, but his effect has since waned and he doesn’t seem to affect games anymore whenever he comes on.

With the transfer ban lifted, Chelsea have been linked with a number of strikers, and Lille striker Osimhen is among the names to have been linked with the Blues. Although he isn’t a high profile striker yet, the young Nigerian has lots of potential.

The 20-year-old has been a standout player for the French side this season with 12 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions.

Chelsea know firsthand what Osimhen offers as he scored against the Blues back in France. Osimhen has also made a strong start to his international career with four goals in nine caps for his country.

Osimhen is a fighter and provides something different to what Abraham offers. He is fast, mobile and loves to run at defenders. Indeed having two young strikers with hunger and different qualities might just be what Lampard needs to shake up our striking department.

What do you think of Chelsea’s move for Osimhen?
