Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has struggled to justify the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper that the club paid to sign him in the summer of 2018.
His errors this season has become too regular and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is reportedly looking at options to replace the Spaniard.
Here are 4 goalkeepers that could replace Arrizabalaga at Chelsea:
1. Nick Pope (Burnley)
The Blues have already been linked with a move for the 27 year old England international and his performances for Burnley this season has been solid. Pope has been the shining light for a Burnley team that has struggled this season and has 8 clean sheets already this season, the most in the Premier League alongside Dean Henderson, Kasper Schmeichel and Ben Foster. Pope would also be a significantly cheaper option.
2. Andre Onana (Ajax)
The 23 year old Cameroonian international caught the eye with brilliant performances in last season’s Champions League for Ajax. His commanding display in goal for Ajax has seen him linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the past. With Lampard wanting the team to play out of the back, Onana will be a good option as he’s good with his feet.
3. Dean Henderson (Sheffield United)
The 22 year old Sheffield United goalkeeper impressed for Sheffield United in the Championship last season and has continued his brilliant form in the Premier League this season.
Henderson has the highest number of clean sheets (8) this season in the Premier League alongside Nick Pope, Kasper Schmeichel and Ben Foster.
However, Chelsea might be unable to convince Manchester United to sell the 22 year old, who is on loan at Sheffield United, as he is seen as the long term successor to David De Gea.
4. Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan)
Gianluigi Donnarumma has established himself as AC Milan’s first choice goalkeeper since he was 16 years old and he is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Italy.
Signing the Italian will show a real statement of intent but it would take a sizeable bid for AC Milan to even consider letting the 20 year old goalkeeper leave.
