Since our title winning season of 2017 under Antonio Conte, the Blues have failed to challenge for the Premier League title.

Wrong transfer decisions, a transfer ban and the loss of Eden Hazard this summer has meant we have been unable to win another Premier League title since 2017.

The Blues can finally challenge for the title next season if we make the right decisions in the transfer market in the summer.

Here are 5 players Chelsea should replace in the summer if we must challenge for the title next season:

1. Kepa Arrizabalaga

Following the departure of Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid, Chelsea signed Kepa Arrizabalaga for a world record transfer fee but the Spaniard has struggled to justify the huge amount spent on his transfer.

Arrizabalaga has failed to reach the heights of Chelsea’s last two goalkeepers, Courtois and Petr Cech. Arrizabalaga has the worst save record in the Premier League and a lack of command in and around the box has been a big issue for the Spaniard.

You can’t win titles without a good goalkeeper and the Blues must make a decision on the Spaniard this summer if we must challenge for the title next season. Liverpool’s signing of Allison has shown how a world class goalkeeper can help a team.

2. Marcos Alonso or Emerson

Chelsea need to sell either Marcos Alonso or Emerson and sign a world class left-back during the summer. Both left-backs have been inconsistent this season and the Blues must sign a quality left-back in the summer.

Liverpool fullbacks have shown how a team can be effective offensively with quality fullbacks and the Blues must spend big on a quality fullback either now or in the summer.

3. Olivier Giroud

The Frenchman is set to leave the club this January and the Blues must ensure a world class striker is signed to replace the France international. The Blues must sign an experienced striker to challenge Tammy Abraham.

4. Pedro

Pedro has rarely played this season and the Spaniard is expected to leave at the end of the season. The Blues must sign a world class winger that can score and create goals to replace Pedro. Willian, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic haven’t scored enough from wide areas this season. We need a winger like Eden Hazard that can score and also create goals.

5. Ross Barkley

The England international is a talented footballer but he is too inconsistent to be a Chelsea player. The Blues must accept the signing of Barkley hasn’t worked out well for the club and sign a quality midfielder this summer.

I fully agree with the sentiments. Chelsea needs trophies. Our goalkeeper is a big let down .At times he becomes too stiff and hardly stretches out to make a save.Example Arsenal’s second goal!

  2. It’s true, we need a left back like Chilwel, a CM who can drive balls forward alongside Kante and Jorginho,a lethal striker like T.Werner and a creative winger like B.Silva

Yeah it very promising if we do that for sure thank..

  4. Keeps out out out

  5. Disagree with Barkley, I think he can be a good option. I think we need to replace Zouma, Rudiger and Azpi. They are not Chelsea or prem standard. We have been blessed over the years with CB’s like Terry, Cahill, Carvalho, Desailly. We need to concentrate on finding 2 new world class CBs. The return of RLC will, in my opinion provide more goals and more creativity in the AMF position. If we can find a Diego Costa somewhere, to complement Tammy, that would be great.

F lampard is also not convincing!he still young energetic but showed many flaws!,Chelsea needs an experienced world class manager!

  7. When you talk about atypical no. 8then we should go for isco or courtinho coz this is where the problem is.

Kepa is a good goal keeper, he has made some super fantastic saves in my candid opinion. Like all humans we have our flaws and he needs to quickly work on it. He has made some few mistakes recently but i think it is pardonable. Lets try to put some sort of believe in him to win his confidence back. He is a fantastic goal keeper.
Again, Marco Alonso is preferably better when he joins Chelsea attacking build -up, he has good eye for goal scoring and creates chances, however, his recovery rate at his defensive position is questionable. He is far better than Emerson whose attacking and defensive positioning is poor. His is often bullied by strikers. I have observed that he is not good at scoring. He has to play tough like the manner Tomori does. Emerson is too soft on the ball for me …and that is why the woes of our right and left full backs become more revealing in the games we have played so far. Chelsea’s right and left full backs go too deep in attacking areas of their opponents leaving chelsea’s back unattended to. With the least counter attack from our opponents, vulnerability is exploited since our left and right full backs are nowhere to be found…before we… the fans realised ….goal! We have conceded again. I personally think these lateral defenders have to be mindful of moving too deep in joining chelsea’s attack. Ross Barkley is a strong player known for his rocket paced shots and a good passer of the ball…however, lately, he is beginning to hold unto the ball frequently by applying some creative dribbling which does work well…so he loses ball quickly which has created a pale shadow of himself in most games. He is not the Barkley i knew then in Everton who wouldn’t waste time on the ball but would go for a simple straight forward pass or a shot at goal. Ever since he came to Chelsea, some of his performances has been not been promising. He needs to play like the playmaker i knew him at Everton with much pace and power behind his ballistic shots.
Pedro hasn’t played enough games so it will be unfair to place judgment and critique on his performance, nonetheless he is great player who on any other day can pull surprises in big games. He can create chances and still has some clinical finishing as far as goal scoring is concerned. He should get some playing time and we would see a drop of greatness in him again.
