Chelsea will host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on January 21, and the Gunners will be without their captain and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for this game.
Aubameyang was shown a red card in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
Aubameyang was given his marching orders in the 67th minute for a dangerous foul on Max Meyer as the Arsenal captain was then shown a red card for his challenge.
Aubameyang will now miss Arsenal’s next three matches, the third of which is an away clash to Chelsea on January 21.
However, Arsenal have appealed to the FA and the Gunners are hoping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s three-game ban will be reduced.
An appeal has been put in by the Gunners for a reduction as Arsenal believe the tackle did not constitute serious foul play.
If Arsenal are successful in their move to reduce Aubameyang’s suspension down to one game, their star striker will be able to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League next Tuesday.
