Chelsea could only get a draw in our first game of the New Year as Brighton held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium.
Chelsea couldn’t get the three points away at Brighton as Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored a late goal for the Seagulls to cancel out Cesar Azpilicueta’s opening goal.
Azpilicueta has now revealed that the team must find way to win games and this year and has backed his side for a bit more consistency.
The Chelsea skipper said: “We have to find the consistency to win games back-to-back and get this solidity in the second half of the season.
“We know we have to improve. We are on our way and hopefully we can have a good rest of the season.”
Azpilicueta’s goal was his third of the season and he has now matched his best-ever tally in a single season (2017/18). However, the Chelsea skipper would prefer his team to win games and keep a clean sheet than his goals.
He said: “In set-plays we know we have big guys and sometimes the ball can hang around the box. This time it came to me and it helped us get one point, but I would have preferred not to score and to get a clean sheet and win the game.”
