It never worked well for Tiemoue Bakayoko at Chelsea and the Frenchman doesn’t have good memories of the club.
During a recent interview with Canal+, Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko who’s currently on loan at Monaco was asked to choose his favourite club between Chelsea and AC Milan where he spent the last season. The 25-year-old surprisingly went for Milan.
AC Milan had signed Bakayoko on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy, but after falling out with then boss Gennaro Gattuso, Bakayoko’s loan deal was scrapped and he headed back to Chelsea.
In the Q&A with Canal+, Bakayoko also chose Antonio Conte over Gattuso. It was Conte who signed him at Chelsea, and Conte gave him ample time to impress even when he was struggling, but Bakayoko fell out with Gattuso at Milan, making him to leave the club.
Earlier this month, Bakayoko revealed that he really wanted to play for Chelsea.
“I didn’t immediately think it (Monaco) was the best option because I really wanted to play with Chelsea,” Tiemoue Bakayoko told L’Equipe.
“But I felt that it would not go as I wanted [at Chelsea] and Monaco appeared. It became an obvious choice.”
