The Blues have finally submitted a bid for Napoli striker Dries Mertens, according to The Sun.

The report claims Chelsea have submitted a bid of £4.7million for the Napoli star, with Chelsea boss Frank Lampard keen on strengthening Chelsea’s attacking options before the transfer window closes on Friday.

Sky Sports have also confirmed Chelsea are in talks with Napoli over the transfer of Mertens to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking about Mertens in December, agent Federico Pastorello said: “If I think about a good opportunity in the market, it would be Mertens from Napoli. He is out of contract (in the summer).

“He is an amazing player. I think he will be soon the best scorer in the history of the club. He has proven himself in the Champions League because he scored in that competition and the national team. I think a player like that, out of contract is an amazing opportunity, even maybe for January.

“Every player really wants to play in the Premier League at least once. So I think he would be very happy to play in the Premier League. I know him very well tactically and technically and I think he can be a successful player for the Premier League.”

  1. That’s why you Chelsea is one of the poorest team in this world

  2. How can you fail to sign even a single player

  3. Are we leaving it
    A bit late!!

  4. No top for Chelsea this season because our manager can’t use the quality players we have who have won cups vfir the club. Why sell Giroud all he needs us regular game time and he will deliver? I am tired of this nonsense.

I am truly in pain to note that, Lampard of Chelsea haven’t done any signing. It is very much disturbing!
    What could be the problem?

  12. please, sing at least one prayer than this.

  13. Please lampard sign the soccer machine star for Ajax, we really need a player like Ziyech

  14. Chelsea Club management does not seem to have any interest in promoting the interests of the Club evidenced by lack of seriousness in signing key players. Is the Club bankrupt?
Team manager has no clue what a Chelsea first team should look like. He has no tactical plan of how midfielders and strikers should organize an attack and execute it with a goal.Attacks stop at the the greater goal area which is the striking range. Instead of strking at that range players still continue short passes in a congested area forcing them to make unnecessary back passes and risk counter attacks often culminating in goals for the opponent.
These are tactical matterd to solve.
Continuous trial and error of players at each match is lack of decision making on the part of the manager. Place the best players in the positions they are best suited for and give each of them the skills and roles you expect of them.Replace any player who cannot comply in his role.
If club managers and technical managers do not play their roles judiciously, Chelsea will never be anywhere among the top 4 nor in any European leage this season, leave alone seeing a trophy.
