The fact that Chelsea are in need of a top class goalkeeper is no longer news as Kepa Arrizabalaga has been struggling at the club this season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman who has shown prospects since graduating from the club’s academy is yet to break into the senior team and has now joined Bristol Rovers on loan until the end of the season.
Chelsea second choice goalkeeper Willy Caballero will leave the club at the end of the season as his contract with the club will wind up this summer.
According to Madrid-based outlet Diario AS, Chelsea are targeting Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita as a probable replacement for Caballero. The 33-year-old has impressed for Palace this season and will have just one year left on his contract at the end of the season.
The report also claims that Chelsea goalkeeper coach/scout/advisor Christophe Lincoln recommends the Palace goalkeeper and is of the belief that he can challenge Kepa for the number one shirt.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that he’s not keen on signing a new goalkeeper this January transfer window but hints that he could do so at the end of the season.
