According to reports, Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid star Thomas Lemar.

Chelsea are keen on signing new players to strengthen the team in the January transfer window, and a number of players have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this month.

Lemar was part of a strong Monaco team that won the French league and reached the semi final of the Champions League in 2017. That team included the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Lemar left Monaco for Atletico Madrid, but the winger hasn’t been able to reach great heights with the Spanish club who are now keen to let him go after just two seasons.

The Spanish club are reportedly ready to sell Lemar permanently for £50m, and Chelsea have been offered a chance to sign the French international, the Evening Standard claims.

The 24-year-old Frenchman is out of favour at Wanda Metropolitano, with manager Diego Simeone admitting that he did not ‘live up to expectations’. According to the Evening Standard, Lemar would only cost £50m if any side wanted to buy him in January.
