According to Daily Telegraph, Newcastle United would like to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud on loan for the rest of the season but have been told he will not be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge unless Chelsea can bring in a replacement.
Giroud has rarely played under Frank Lampard this season and is keen on leaving the club this January in search of regular football ahead of the Euro 2020 this summer.
The report claims Newcastle United contacted Chelsea last week about the possibility of signing Giroud on loan this January but were told there is no chance of a move to Tyneside at this stage.
One player that could replace Giroud at Chelsea is Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
