Just a few years ago, Thomas Lemar was part of a Monaco group of talents that stormed the French league and won the Ligue One and also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
In the summer of 2018, Lemar made a sensational switch to Atletico Madrid for £52.7m, having been part of the France World Cup winning team.
But just as Tiemoue Bakayoko who was part of that historic Monaco team failed to make it at Chelsea, Lemar has also struggled for Atletico. In fact, over the course of 17 months and 64 appearances, the 24-year-old has only three goals and six assists to his name, none of which have come in 21 appearances in all competitions this term.
Interestingly, Atletico have reportedly given up on the World Cup winner and he has been offered to Premier League clubs for a £50m deal.
Surely, Chelsea won’t be in the market for a player who has struggled in his last 21 games.
The Blues are keen to strengthen the attack with quality as Frank Lampard’s side has struggled to break down opposition teams especially at home, and a move for Lemar is surely not in the club’s plans.
