Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta has set the record for scoring the first Premier League goal of the decade as he put Chelsea ahead just after ten minutes of play against Burnley.

With ten minutes gone, Azpilicueta pounced on a rebound following a Chelsea corner kick to give the Blues the lead, in what was the first goal of the year and the new decade.

Meanwhile, Wesley Moraes scored the second goal of the decade 17 minutes later as Aston Villa defeated Burnley 2-1 at the Turf Moor, with the game played the same time with the Brighton vs Chelsea clash.

Unfortunately for Azpilicueta, his goal against the Seagulls wasn’t enough to secure a Chelsea victory as the Blues ended up playing a 1-1 draw at the Falmer Stadium.

Chelsea were holding on to their slender lead until Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored a stunning overhead kick from a corner to level the scores late in the game.

Chelsea have now given the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham the opportunity to close the gap on top four, and United need just a win to reduce the gap on Chelsea to just two points.
