Following Chelsea’s 2-1 FA Cup victory over Hull City on Saturday, Chelsea legend Joe Cole and former Chelsea boss Glenn Hoddle believes a lack of ruthlessness is Chelsea’s biggest problem.
Hoddle told BT Sport: “I worry about Chelsea sometimes because they do make things hard for themselves.
“They were totally in control of the game but they didn’t kill Hull off and in the end they’re hanging on.
“It’s becoming a pattern now. Against a better opposition they probably would have drawn or lost that game. They’ve got to put it right.
“I always think teams are in the game against Chelsea. The game is never dead. They have to put that right as a team.”
Cole added: “Frank was nervous at the end there. Time and time again they don’t put games to bed quick enough.
“Lampard wants to get Chelsea to a certain standard. They are better than that. They should have been 3-0 or 4-0 up. The great Chelsea sides would have done that.
“To get back to that standard you need to be honest with yourselves as a team.”
