In the coming weeks, new rules that aim to limit the number of players a club can send out on loan is set to be agreed upon, according to The Sun.
Chelsea currently have no fewer than 13 senior players out on loan to foreign clubs, including Victor Moses, Alvaro Morata, Davide Zappacosta and Tiemoue Bakayoko. The new loan rule by FIFA will limit clubs to just eight international loans of players aged 22 or older.
The number of loans permitted will be reduced even further over the following two seasons so that by 2022-23 the limit will be six loans out.
According to FIFA, the new loan rule is designed to prevent player hoarding.
A FIFA spokesperson confirmed: “Proposals were endorsed by the football stakeholders committee last September.
“These proposals are currently being developed to be turned into regulations.”
