Chelsea boss Frank Lampard didn’t want to take chances as he named a strong lineup to face Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round tie at the KCOM Stadium.
Chelsea dominated large spells of the game, but couldn’t kill the game off by taking their chances which gave the home side belief ending into the second half.
Chelsea only managed to win the game 2-1 at the end, and former Chelsea star Joe Cole has revealed that Lampard was nervous in the game due to the familiar failings that have troubled Chelsea this season.
Chelsea star Joe Cole told BT Sport after the game: “Frank was nervous at the end there. Time and time again they don’t put games to bed quick enough.
“Lampard wants to get Chelsea to a certain standard. They are better than that. They should have been 3-0 or 4-0 up The great Chelsea sides would have done that.
“To get back to that standard you need to be honest with yourselves as a team.”
