Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has fallen out of favour at Chelsea, and the 23-year-old is set to be on his way out of the club this January transfer window.

The club are keen on re-signing academy product Nathan Ake who’s now plying his trade with Bournemouth, with Chelsea having sold him to the Cherries two years ago for £20m.

Ake has developed into a top class centre-back since leaving Chelsea for Bournemouth and the Blues are keen on triggering the buyback clause for Ake.

However, reports claim Chelsea will only make a move for the Bournemouth defender when Andreas Christensen leaves the club.

Chelsea currently have four centre-backs at the club at the moment – Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Fikayo Tomori and Andreas Christensen – and one of them must leave the club to create space for Ake.

Christensen is reportedly surplus to requirements and Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old.

Would it be a good move by the club to push out Christensen and re-sign former defender Nathan Ake for £40m?
