Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic was not in the squad for Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday. Surprisingly, the American international didn’t make the matchday squad, with reports claiming it was because of a minor groin injury that he picked up during a training session following the Boxing Day defeat to Southampton.
The American travelled to north London for the game against the Gunners but was not part of the 18-man squad and after the game, he debunked talks that he was injured.
Replying to a story about his supposed injury, Pulisic tweeted bluntly: “100% healthy but thank you guys for the concern.”
Ahead of the Brighton clash on Boxing Day, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has now revealed what really happened to Pulisic.
According to Lampard, Pulisic’s absence was just a precautionary measure.
The Chelsea manager said in his pre-match press conference: “After the Southampton game the lads did some strides and he felt a cramp in his hamstring.
“I wouldn’t even call it an injury. He trained a couple of days after that at quite a low level, for me it was more precautionary to keep him out of it [at Arsenal].”
