Lampard names Chelsea’s best player in the second half against Hull City

Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour came on for Callum Hudson-Odoi in the 68th minute and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard insists the young midfielder was Chelsea’s best player while he was on the pitch.

Lampard also revealed he trust Chelsea youngsters Tariq Lamptey and Billy Gilmour.

Asked why he sent on Tariq Lamptey and Billy Gilmour against Hull City, Lampard said: “Because I trust them. I thought Billy Gilmour was the best player on the pitch for the period of time that he was on the pitch. So I absolutely trust him.

“He came on, passed it, moved it, simple passes through the lines. Had little bits of contact and I trusted them to come on and do the job.”
