Chelsea youngster Reece James had a good game against Burnley as the 19-year-old was the man of the match in the 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.
Reece James is having a breakthrough season at Chelsea after a successful loan spell with Wigan Athletic last season.
The Chelsea academy product will be hopeful of getting a call-up to the England senior team, but there young talented players occupying his position for the Three Lions, with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier both fighting for that position.
However, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has told his young right-back to forget about getting an England call-up but to rather focus on his game at club level, insisting that from there, he can get anywhere he wants to be.
“We have a lot of quality in that area,” Lampard said of England’s full-back situation. “I don’t think he needs to concern himself with that. He really needs to establish himself with what he is doing now.
“The last few games he has done that, but that has to happen over a [consistent] period of time. I believe in Reece and his quality. If he works really hard he will get where he wants to be.”
