Michy Batshuayi scored Chelsea’s first goal in the 2-1 victory over Hull City on Saturday but the Belgian striker did something else that would have caught the attention of Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
Lampard demands his players to put a shift for the team and Batshuayi did just that against Hull City as the striker didn’t just score but also won three tackles against Hull City.
With Tammy Abraham expected to be on the sidelines for a while, Batshuayi is expected to lead the line in Abraham’s absence.
Speaking about Batshuayi’s performance against Hull City, Lampard said: “He gets his goal. I am pleased as a goal scorer and a striker, he wants to score goals and it helps his confidence. I am pleased.
“I have said all season that we can’t just rely on Tammy. Tammy has been scoring regularly. He has given us a lot. Of course, we want Michy firing and scoring goals like he did today and when he trains he needs to stay at that level because today we needed him.”
