Chelsea were at its strongest point in Jose Mourinho’s first spell in charge of the club between 2004 and 2007.

The Portuguese led Chelsea to a run of 40 league games without tasting defeat between 2004 and 2005, as the Blues won the Premier League in style.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are close to reaching and even surpassing that record under Jurgen Klopp as the German has turned the Reds into an unstoppable team.

Following their 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday, Liverpool have now gone 38 games without tasting defeat in the Premier League and are two games shy of meeting Chelsea’s record. If the Reds avoid defeat in their next three games, they’d even surpass Chelsea’s unbeaten record.

Check out the longest unbeaten runs in European football:

AC Milan (1991-93) – 58 games

Bayern Munich (2012-14) – 53 games

Arsenal (2003-04) – 49 games

Juventus (2011-12) – 49 games

Barcelona (2017-18) – 43 games

Nottingham Forest (1977-78) – 42 games

Chelsea (2004-05) – 40 games

Fiorentina (1995-56) – 40 games

Liverpool (2019-2020) – 38 games

Perugia (1978-79) – 38 games

Real Sociedad (1979-80) – 38 games

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
