Chelsea manager Frank Lampard captured the hearts of Chelsea fans during his playing career, and the Blues legend will long be remembered for being a goalscoring midfielder.

Lampard scored 177 Premier League goals before he called time on his playing career and is the fourth highest scorer in the Premier League. However, his record is now set to be broken by Manchester City star Sergio Aguero who has already levelled his record.

Aguero scored a hat-trick as Man City thrashed struggling Aston Villa 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Aguero is now level with Lampard with 177 Premier League goals and will overtake the Chelsea manager with his next goal.

Lampard and Aguero sit on joint-fourth in the list of all-time Premier League goalscorers, behind Andy Cole, Wayne Rooney and record goalscorer Alan Shearer.

Most Premier League goals

Alan Shearer – 260 (441 appearances)

Wayne Rooney – 208 (491)

Andy Cole – 187 (414)

Frank Lampard – 177 (609)

Sergio Aguero – 177 (255)*

Thierry Henry – 175 (258)
