24 games have been played already in the Premier League this season, but there’s still a long way to go, with 14 more games before we wrap up the 2019/20 season.
There is a huge fight for fourth place in the Premier League as Manchester United, Tottenham and even the likes of Wolves and Sheffield United are sniffing around fourth place.
Chelsea have since been fourth in the league this season, but the Blues have failed to hold firm grip of the final Champions League spot.
During the mid-week games, Chelsea failed to get a win in consecutive Premier League games as the Blues played a 2-2 draw with 10-man Arsenal despite going ahead twice in the game.
That draw with the Gunners presented Chelsea’s closest neighbours Manchester United the opportunity to close the gap from five points to three points, but United were well beaten 2-0 at Old Trafford by Burnley, meaning Chelsea now have six points advantage over the Red Devils.
Chelsea haven’t been consistent of late as the Blues have won just 5 points in our last 4 games, but during that same span, Spurs have had just 4 and Manchester United have just 3. So it was somehow a point gained for the Blues.
One can look back at the annoying defeat to Newcastle last weekend and thought how we would have been more comfortable if we actually got that draw that would have even seemed bad at the time.
But Chelsea can only look forward with many more tough games to play in the coming weeks.
