Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has left the club albeit on a loan deal as he joined Aston Villa on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old is hoping to find his best form having completed a loan move to Aston Villa following an unsuccessful loan spell with Burnley.
“Hopefully I can hit the ground running,” Drinkwater told Villa’s official website.
“From a Villa point of view I want the club to stay in the Premier League and personally just to get game time. A clear aim of mine this season has been to play. I am looking forward to the challenge.”
Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is pleased with the signing of the Chelsea midfielder and expects the 29-year-old to rediscover his best form that saw him win the Premier League with Leicester City in 2016.
“Danny was a key member of Leicester City’s title-winning team and has represented England so he is a vastly experienced player.
“He will strengthen our squad significantly.”
