Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is sweating over his team’s injury crisis at the moment as a bulk of his squad is out through injury.
Newcastle’s injury crisis hit double figures in recent weeks, with Dwight Gayle and Paul Dummett forced off in their draw against Wolves last weekend, missing the midweek FA Cup replay win over Rochdale.
Bruce has admitted that he can’t rotate his squad due to the injury crisis, but Chelsea boss Frank Lampard isn’t taking anything for granted ahead of this weekend’s tie.
Lampard even believes that the Magpies injury worries can even spur them to fight harder.
Lampard told the media: “Even though we have good away form in general every game brings new challenges. Going to Newcastle I know the emotion of the crowd, the very organised team they are, the manager they have, and also the threats they have.
“They have got some really good results this season. We will be taking nothing lightly.
“We have to take this game head on. It is massively important we keep our focus game in, game out. We certainly can’t underestimate Newcastle because of the season they’re having.”
