In the year 2019, Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi was one of the most strongly chased players as German giants Bayern Munich didn’t hide their intentions in signing the youngster.
The Bavarians were ready to pay up to £34m to sign the teenager as they saw him as a long-term successor for the aged stars Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery.
Meanwhile, Chelsea weren’t keen on selling the youngster and were intent on tying him to a new deal.
Hudson-Odoi even handed in a transfer request last January in order to force through a move to Bayern, with limited playing time under Maurizio Sarri.
Hudson-Odoi ended up signing a new Chelsea contract in September, and Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has revealed that the youngster asked him about Bayern Munich and only signed because of the departure of Eden Hazard.
“Of course he asked me about Bayern Munich back them,” Rudiger told Sport Bild.
“I told him that it was of course a great club.
“The transfer ban and the departure of Eden Hazard, which we had been expecting for a long time, made it clear that Callum would get more appearances.”
