Chelsea have been linked with a number of targets in the January transfer window, but the Blues are yet to make any signings so far.
On December 6, it was announced that the transfer ban FIFA imposed on Chelsea for breaking youth transfer rules was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, thus permitting the club to make signings this January.
Chelsea fans have been frustrated that the club isn’t close to confirming any deal, and transfer expert Ian McGarry believes Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is being cautious in the January transfer market.
“They have been linked with many, many players in this January window,” McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast.
“Frank Lampard is, of course, operating in his first transfer window as Chelsea manager and certainly his experience at Derby County is going to be a lot different in terms of finances available and quality of players that he would be looking at.
“Thus, he has resisted the opportunity to dive into the market and just basically sign the first player who comes up.”
Chelsea have only confirmed the signing of Bryan Fiabema who will be with the club’s academy, and he’s the first signing of the club since the transfer ban was lifted.
