Chelsea have always been interested in signing Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani, and the 32-year-old has been one of the world’s best strikers since the past decade.
After impressing at Napoli, Chelsea couldn’t beat Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of the striker in 2013, but the 32-year-old is now keen on trying himself in another league, after more than six seasons with the French champions.
Although Atletico are the more interested party in the Uruguay star, Chelsea have also been linked with a move.
The big question is: Why would Chelsea be interested in a striker that turns 33 next month?
Firstly, Cavani is still a quality striker despite his age, although he’s only a short-term solution. Also, the Uruguayan will be available on the cheap as his contract with PSG ends during the summer.
Meanwhile, the truth remains that despite Chelsea’s interest in numerous targets, getting quality signings in January will be very difficult. Prices of targets will be unnecessarily expensive in January and clubs won’t be willing to sell their players in January.
Meanwhile, Chelsea fans are divided over this signing and many don’t see it as a good move for the club.
