Chelsea boss Frank Lampard last week warned goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga that he needs to step up if he wants to continue as Chelsea’s no.1.
Lampard’s warning to the Spaniard is understandable given the performance of Arrizabalaga in goal for Chelsea this season.
According to statistics, Arrizabalaga has the worst save percentage of every no.1 goalkeeper in the Premier League this season. Southampton goalkeeper Angus Gunn has a worse percentage than Arrizabalaga but he has been Southampton no.2 this season.
Liverpool’s Allison has shown the importance of having a good goalkeeper. The Brazilian has the best save percentage in the Premier League this season and Liverpool are currently the Premier League leaders.
According to Football365, Allison has saved 84.21% of shots faced. He leads in shots saved from inside the box after saving 70% of shots faced from inside the box. He also leads in shots saved from outside the box, having saved every shot faced from outside the box.
Dean Henderson, on loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United, has the third best save percentage of 74.68% and it’s easy to see why Sheffield United are doing well in the league. He has saved 65.45% of shots from inside the box and 95.83% of shots from outside the box.
Meanwhile, Chelsea goalkeeper Arrizabalaga has the worst save percentage in the Premier League from shots faced from outside the box. He has saved just 70% of shots faced from outside the box, the worst in the Premier League.
Arrizabalaga hasn’t also fared well from shots faced from inside the box. The Spaniard has saved just 50% of shots faced from inside the box and he ranks 22nd out of 24th in the Premier League.
Arrizabalaga’s overall save percentage is 55.56%, the worst of every no.1 goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.
