Today’s breaking news claim that Chelsea have a verbal agreement in place to sign Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech this summer for €45 million (£37.8 million).
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has confirmed an agreement in place between Chelsea and Ajax for the 26-year-old Moroccan.
Chelsea tried to sign the 26-year-old Morocco international during the January transfer window but Ajax were unwilling to let him leave until the end of the season.
Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has confirmed that Chelsea have signed Ziyech with rumours claiming every year that Ziyech is set for an exit.
“Ziyech to Chelsea? A transfer was coming, we expected it to happen,” the coach told Dutch TV channel FOX Sports.
“And I actually already expected this one or two years earlier.
“And each time it was: ‘Wow, he stayed again’. We are just happy that we will still have him until the end of the season.”
Lampard has been keen to add a creative force to the Chelsea team, and he’d be pleased with the signing of Ziyech. Ziyech has been involved in 29 goals this season across all competitions, including two goals and five assists in six European outings.
