At the end of January transfer window, the Blues were unable to add to the squad, despite the fact that Chelsea were in dire need of signings to strengthen the side at this stage of the season.

Frank Lampard has been unable to add to his squad since his appointment as Chelsea manager, and reporter Dan Levene has tried to explain Chelsea’s new transfer strategy.

Levene has revealed that Chelsea’s new transfer strategy is not to splash the cash but rather to nurture academy products and strengthen the team where need be.

Speaking about Chelsea’s lack of signing this window, Lampard said: “I wouldn’t say it’s been frustrating as I’m very aware of how football is. Some things are not in my control so my first thought is always what happens on the training pitch.

“It’s clear we wanted to bring players in and I’ve made that pretty clear over the last weeks but it hasn’t happened.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.

The strategy is right do long as Frank is given time to bring the youngsters on. Bringing in the wrong players for that strategy just by splashing the cash would cause disharmony in the dressing room. Especially when you have Ruben and Christian coming back. If it had been possible I am sure Petr and Marina would have identified and brought in the right person. We need to stay patient and not lose players, sd ee have in the past, such as Salah and de Bruyne through a short term approach.
