Getafe got a surprise 2-0 win against Ajax in the Europa League clash on Thursday night.
Two players related to Chelsea were in the game as Kenedy who’s on loan to Getafe was on the winning side, while Chelsea new signing Hakim Ziyech was on the losing side.
Erik ten Hag’s Ajax were one of the sides that dropped down from the Champions League as they came third in a group that also included Chelsea and Valencia. However, the Dutch champions failed to show any of the pedigree that saw them reach the last four of last year’s Champions League as they were outclassed by Getafe.
The Spanish side pressed all through the game and pressured the Ajax defence into making countless mistakes, showing exactly why they sit third in La Liga.
After an impressive start to the game, following an opening half hour of pressure, Getafe took the lead through on-loan striker Deyverson.
Chelsea loanee Kenedy who is on loan at Getafe came on the pitch to play the final seven minutes of the game and he scored not too long after.
The Brazilian started a counter attack, as he took the ball up the pitch before unleashing a shot from just outside the area that deflected past Ajax goalkeeper Bruno Varela and into the back of the net to double Getafe’s lead.
Meanwhile Ajax and Ziyech were so poor that they had to wait until the 86th minute before Klass-Jan Huntelaar registered their first shot in the game.
Ajax must now overturn the result in the second leg.
