Chelsea have completed a sensational £38m signing for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech who will join the club at the end of the season.
Chelsea have enough wingers in its ranks as the Blues have Pedro, Willian, Christian Pulisic and also Callum Hudson-Odoi on the flanks.
Pedro and Willian are already in their 30s and in the final year of their contracts, thus the signing of Ziyech might mean that one or both of them might have to leave the club at the end of the season.
Asked outright if Ziyech’s arrival means Willian and Pedro will leave the club, Lampard replied:
“No it doesn’t. Those conversations are ongoing with both players.
“And I think we’ve bought in a quality player who can play in various positions, so it certainly doesn’t have a one-on-one effect on any player.”
Lampard also hailed the duo as they have been loyal servants to the club.
Asked about how much they have served the club, Lampard continued: “Oh yeah, without a doubt, and both been here in successful periods for the club.
“Both I found to be very professional and willing and wanting to work this year and help the younger players.
“And obviously get results which is the main thing. So regardless [of whether they stay], what they’ve done at the club is very well received from our end.”
