Chelsea played a 2-2 draw with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger scored two second-half goals for the Blues to help seal a point for Chelsea.
The Premier League congratulated Rudiger for his goals and hailed him as the first Chelsea defender to score a brace since John Terry in 2013.
A disappointed Marcos Alonso was not happy with the tweet and retweeted the incorrect tweet adding a ‘sackedinthemorning’ hashtag.
Apparently, the Premier League had forgotten that Alonso scored a brace for Chelsea in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham back in 2017.
Probably, the Premier League twitter handle meant that Rudiger was the first Chelsea centre-back since John Terry to score a Premier League brace.
Well, we’re all prone to mistakes and though. Take heart Alonso.
