If Chelsea must beat Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard must get it right with his team selection, especially in the striking role.
Tammy Abraham got injured in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal, and was forced again to play against Leicester City just before the winter break, but it was clear that the 22-year-old wasn’t at his best against the Foxes.
Lampard now has to choose between a not too fit Tammy Abraham, a Michy Batshuayi that’s lacking in confidence at the moment and an Olivier Giroud who’s rusty and was eager to leave the club in January but ended up staying.
From his press conference on Friday, Lampard seems to be towing the line of sticking with his main striker, Tammy Abraham.
“Tammy is still feeling the effects and we had to take him out of training a couple of times this week,” said Lampard.
“So we hope he’ll be OK.”
